about

For the intro, Asirvatham transformed Richard Wright’s
melancholy piano chord progression into an uptempo chamber group prelude for violin, viola, cello, and bassoon. This gives way to a rock groove played slowly and spaciously on B-3 organ, bass, drums, and guitar. Asirvatham improvises a jazzy, subdued vocal line that slowly builds to match the intensity of the original Clare Torry performance. A closing guitar solo by Warren Boes (over reintroduced strings) kicks
up the energy a few notches.
